Meet your Therapist

My name is Jasmine Keats and I am the founder of Salisbury Music Therapy.

I am trained to MA level and I hold HCPC registration to practise as a Music Therapist. Psychodynamic therapy informs my work, which aims to help people access and recognise unconscious patterns of behaviour and thought processes with the goal of becoming less ‘stuck’.

I am experienced at working with children, young people and adults with mental health difficulties, learning disabilities, autism, domestic violence experience, trauma, young people in care, attachment difficulties, communication difficulties, social and behavioural difficulties.

I have been working therapeutically with autistic young people at a specialist residential SEN school for the past few years. Some of my clients have limited language, so communicating and connecting through music and play has been particularly important. Some of my clients have experienced trauma and are children in care, therefore the therapeutic relationship is paramount. I have helped my clients to express themselves through exploring their transgender identity, thoughts on suicide, strengthening family relationships and exploring their feelings of difference compared to neurotypical people.

My recent research has been exploring young people's lived experiences of childhood counselling and to understand whether Music Therapy could be a useful alternative psychological intervention for children and young people.

Alongside my therapy work, I work in adult social services in psychiatric hospitals and in the local community. I work with adults who experience complex trauma and complex mental health needs, such as personality disorders, schizoaffective disorder, psychosis, severe depression, bipolar, OCD. I am skilled at thinking holistically about people, their families and the systems surrounding them to ensure they have the support they need to thrive.
